Beginning in 2020, the Thoroughbred Incentive Program (T.I.P.) and United States Polo Association® (USPA) will recognize Thoroughbreds that are excelling as polo horses through seven awards that will be offered annually. For a Thoroughbred to be eligible for these awards, it must be registered with The Jockey Club or a foreign Thoroughbred stud book recognized by The Jockey Club and have a T.I.P. number. There is no charge for a T.I.P. Number.
Award information will be announced at a later date.
Award categories:
- High Goal Horse: for a Thoroughbred that has played in at least one USPA High Goal (16 or higher) Outdoor Tournament in the previous calendar year.
- Medium Goal Horse: for a Thoroughbred that has played in at least one USPA Medium Goal (8 to 16) Outdoor Tournament in the previous calendar year.
- Low Goal Horse: for a Thoroughbred that has played in at least one USPA Low Goal (below 8) Outdoor Tournament in the previous calendar year.
- Arena Polo Horse: for a Thoroughbred that has played in at least one USPA Arena Tournament in the previous calendar year.
- Lesson Horse: for a Thoroughbred used in a lesson program at a USPA club.
- Intercollegiate/Interscholastic (I/I) Horse: for a Thoroughbred that has played in an I/I Regional or National Tournament in the previous calendar year.
- Women's Polo Horse: for a Thoroughbred that has played in at least on USPA Women's Tournament in the previous calendar year.
